Plutarch recounts that Ascra was uninhabited in his day, too, since the Thespians killed the inhabitants and the citizens of Orchomenus took in the survivors. Hence, he says that the god commanded the citizens of Orchomenus to fetch the remains of Hesiod and to bury them in their own city, as Aristotle says in his ''Constitution of Orchomenus''.
