καὶ ἐπ᾽ Ἀνακρέοντα τὸν Τήϊον πεντηκόντορον στείλας ἐκόμισεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν, Σιμωνίδην δὲ τὸν Κεῖον ἀεὶ περὶ αὑτὸν εἶχεν, μεγάλοις μισθοῖς καὶ δώροις πείθων·
Indeed he [the Peisistratid Hipparchus] sent a fifty-oared ship for Anacreon of Teos and took him to the city for Anacreon, and he always had Simonides of Ceos about him, enticing him with great wages and gifts.
